Puur

World Premiere May 27th 2005, Singapore Arts Festival (SG)

For Puur Wim Vandekeybus was inspired by old myths and stories about the killing of innocents. Also now, genocides remain an actuality.

Around this theme Wim Vandekeybus has created a timeless and universal story. A story about a man who murders out of fear of losing his power; about living in isolation and the alienation of the outside world; about loss and the terrible pain that it brings; about the fear of the unknown, about culpability and innocence…

Wim Vandekeybus worked with an international cast of 13 performers amongst whom the 79-year old Flemish actor, director and playwright Tone Brulin. Images of a previously edited film are interwoven with the developments on stage.
