Dans ‘In Spite of Wishing and Wanting’ (1999), Wim Vandekeybus mettait douze hommes sur scène. Cette fois, il travaille uniquement avec des femmes pour une création au sein de laquelle danse, théâtre et musique sont à nouveau intimement liés.
La nouvelle compagnie offre une distribution internationale composée de cinq danseuses et deux actrices. Inne Goris – qui travaillait autrefois comme metteur en scène au Théâtre pour jeunes bruxellois Bronks – se charge de la dramaturgie. Pour la composition des textes, Wim Vandekeybus a collaboré étroitement avec l’auteur flamand Peter Verhelst qui a adapté certaines histoires issues de son ‘roman de contes’ Zwellend Fruit. La musique originale du spectacle est composé par Yves De Mey, alias Eavesdropper. Pour la conception sonore, Wim collabore par ailleurs avec l’ingénieur du son allemand Josh Martin.
