New Ultima Vez intensive dance workshop for professionals with Maria Kolegova & Wim Vandekeybus announced!
Join us for a transformative dance workshop that delves into the heart of the intuitive methods behind Ultima Vez’s creations. Led by Maria Kolegova, a seasoned performer with over a decade of experience with the company and its founder Wim Vandekeybus, this workshop is an exceptional opportunity to refine both technical movement skills and theatrical performance in a seamless, integrated approach.
Held in the Ultima Vez studio in Molenbeek, where the company has been creating for the past 12 years, this workshop offers a unique insight into the energy, intentions, and principles that define Ultima Vez's latest productions. Drawing from personal experience, Maria will guide participants through essential themes in Vandekeybus’ work, with a focus on how movement becomes part of dance composition. Through solo, partner, and group exercises, participants will develop their capacity for connection, exploring how to bring physicality and emotion into their performance.
Wim Vandekeybus will also share his creative approach throughout the five days, emphasizing the role of imagination and inventiveness in the art of spontaneous performance. Rather than teaching, Wim will coach participants through the process of bringing personal stories, emotions, and memories to life on stage, fostering a deeper understanding of how movement and words are inseparably connected. The focus will be on guiding dancers toward a final performance, honing their ability to present their work on stage in front of an audience. This process will empower dancers to explore beyond their own personalities, stepping into the realm of fictional characters with empathy and courage.
Mornings will primarily focus on developing dance technique and physicality, while afternoons will emphasize theatricality, always intertwining both elements into one cohesive form of expression.
How to Apply:
We invite professional dancers and performers (no age limit) to apply, as space is limited to 28 participants. To apply, please send a brief description of your journey as a dancer/performer and a short video showcasing your movement and/or acting skills to workshops@ultimavez.com before 04/11. Once you are selected you will receive a confirmation e-mail with payment information.
