Besides being a collage of statements, Alle Größen decken sich zu is also Vandekeybus' ultimate hommage to Karl Wegener, alias Carlo Verano, an old artist met by the choreographer in 1989 in Hamburg while turning a Super-8 film. The 89 year old Verano became Vandekeybus' friend and source of inspiration of the performance Immer das Selbe gelogen.

During the tour to Japan of that production at the end of 1992, Verano died in Brussels. A bit more than two years later Vandekeybus has taken just enough distance from 'his subject' to elaborate this remarkable encounter into a tender performance.
