For The Day of Heaven and Hell, the actors and dancers of Ultima Vez engaged in a dialog with the personality of the Italian writer, poet and film-maker Pier Paolo Pasolini. Initially, the project was to work with fragments from the complete oeuvre of Pasolini, but the rights to these works were refused. For the actors involved it was a frustration to not be able to pronounce the powerful, sharp and poetic words of the author, but a challenge was thus created to express their fascination for the man through other texts and means: numerous interviews with Pasolini, an interview with Pasolini's biographer Barth David Schwartz, improvised texts, association of ideas…

The project had little in common with a conventional theatrical representation, which is also why a very particular locality was chosen – the immense ‘Koninklijke Jacht' building in Brussels.
